This original mixed-media / collage is created ona 15" x 19" cutting board and depicts Senegalese musician Guelel Kumba, leader of his band 'Afrissippi'. Kumba is a guitarist, singer and songwriter of Fulani heritage who is currently based in Oxford, MS. - He grew Upon his traveling to Mississippi to study the American phenomena known as 'The Blues'. He came to the realization that many of the Fulani folk song rhythyms he learned as a child in his village growing up, inspired what would become known as 'Hill Country Blues' across the water in the northern Mississippi region.up in the Futa Toro region in the Senegal River valley, which encompasses areas of northern Senegal and southern Mauritania.
